Our Story
Two people, one starter, and a kitchen in Farnham
Dumbledough started the way most good things do: with a conversation over food. We'd been baking sourdough for ourselves for years, tweaking recipes, experimenting with add-ins, and handing loaves out to anyone who'd take them. Eventually, someone said what we'd both been thinking: why not do this properly?
So we did. We registered as a food business, got our hygiene certifications, and started baking from our home kitchen in Farnham. No premises, no investors, no middlemen. Just us, our oven, and a sourdough starter that's been going strong for over three years.
We built the website ourselves because we wanted the experience of ordering bread to feel as good as eating it. No generic order forms. No guesswork. You choose exactly what goes into your loaf, and we bake it fresh for you.
What We Believe
Real bread, no shortcuts
Slow fermentation
Every loaf is fermented for a minimum of 24 hours. No fast-rise shortcuts, no commercial yeast. This is how sourdough was meant to be made, with time and patience. The result is better flavour, better texture, and bread that's easier to digest.
Honest ingredients
Flour, water, salt, and a live culture. That's the base. Everything we add on top is something you'd recognise in your own kitchen: real herbs, real cheese, real charcuterie. No preservatives, no stabilisers, no ingredient lists you need a chemistry degree to read.
Made to order
We don't bake in bulk and hope for the best. Every loaf is made because someone asked for it, with exactly the add-ins they chose. That means zero waste and bread that's always fresh, never sat on a shelf.
Local to Farnham
Proudly Farnham. Deliberately small.
We live in Farnham, we bake in Farnham, and we deliver in Farnham. This isn't a stepping stone to something bigger. It's the whole point. We want to be part of the community we serve.
We support local businesses where possible. It matters to us that what we do has a positive impact on the community around us.
We deliver ourselves. No third-party couriers, no vans with someone else's branding. When your bread arrives, it's because one of us drove it to your door.
